USAAF - United States Army Air Force
The United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) was the major aerial warfare branch of the United States Army. It was formed in 1941 and served as a powerful ally to Britain during World War II. It was the direct predecessor of the United States Air Force which we know today.
At its peak, the AAF had over 2.4 million men and women in service, during World War II. By 1944, it was nearly 80,000 aircraft strong and proved to be a formidable force.
Many of the key subjects flown during this time are represented here by Airfix.
