Luftwaffe - German Air Force
The Luftwaffe was the German force in the skies during World War I but were quickly disbanded in 1920 in keeping with the terms of the Treaty of Versailles, which insisted that Germany were no longer allowed to have an air force.
During the Interwar period, German pilots were trained secretly in the Soviet Union and by 1935, it was public knowledge that the Luftwaffe were back in action. During this time, they had become one of the most technologically advanced air forces in recent history and it made them a terrifying enemy. They were officially disbanded in 1946 after the defeat of Germany in World War II and remain one of the most sophisticated forces to date.
The strength and power of the Luftwaffe in World War II can be brought to life in a wide variety of Airfix models. Whether you choose a propeller driven Messerschmitt or one of the first jets, your modelling skills will be taken to the next level.
