Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!
The attached is another NCB brakevan purpose made. I met the man who made it. He was an apprentice at the time, but when I met him he had retired from being chief rolling stock engineer for NCB Philadelpia works. The chain link symbol on the centre of the body indicates that the NCB wagon is authorised to be hauled by NCB locomotives over BR track. In Co. Durham this inter-operability was very common. The date in the symbol indicates the BR safety examination date.
Hi LC&DR Thanks for picture and aditional information Main line runs as well even better. regards John

The NCB wagon livery was red with black metalwork which contrasts nicely with the drab grey or bauxite of normal BR rolling stock. Normally the NCB locomotives would haul these wagons, so I can only deduce that these were destined to a colliery outside the range of NCB driver's route knowledge. In the late 1980s I explored many of the colliery lines in Durham and Northumberland where I saw a large variety of coal wagons in NCB ownership still doing hard work despite the damage done by the recent strike.

Latest purchase was 5 Dapol 21t Hopper Wagons. Very nice - better than the old Horby Dudlo version, which were very good for their time. They show how we've moved on in 50 years.

I have just ordered direct from Hornby, the camping coach. It seems most are sold out in many places and no furthur stock will be available. Always wanted one and at one time I considered converting a Thomas coach because of it's colours. I know that a retailer has a special set made by B company but these were a lot more expensive than the Hornby one which is very nice for the money. I have also ordered DOG in 60's mode with the different tender. Two Brits and a Crosti are also pending.

The coach arrived this morning and very nice it is too!. I also bought from Liverpool 2 Dapol windmill kits, two cottages kits and an Aifix bus kit (the large one) I am going to try out some new very fine brushes that I hope I can detail cabs in locos from a few years ago and some of the Railroad items. They are very fine indeed and I think just the job for intricate detailing. The windmills and the cottages are for a plan I have to vaguely reproduce something that is on BBC's "Escape to the Country" at the very beginning. There is a cottage that I hope can be made by using two kits together with one only being the top half to make a single storey side extension. The windmills will be near each other, one black and one white as in the short piece of film.
