Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

A good set to start with, but I am sure you will find lots of things to add to it . Welcome back to OO!

Have you tried curved points before on your layout, WTD? I have a couple but they don't seem to be too brilliant at times, trains not always wanting to go in the inner direction from the toe end without sometimes derailing. I think it's probably something to do with forward propulsion, or something, a train having to suddenly switch from a large to smaller curve. Or is it something to do with swiftly changing centrifugal forces? The faster the train, the more you can have a problem, it seems.

The engine shed might be all right!

I have four sets at the moment, shortly to be five. Three are on the main lines and one in the sidings. The new one is going in a siding. Never had a problem with them except early on one was troublesome so I changed it for a pco one.

I use the same manufacturer, WTD for mine. Perhaps I'm missing something, or, at least my trains sometimes are? What's the secret then?

Try making the check rails a bit longer with short pieces of rail to lead the wheels in the right direction.

Thanks for that tip, WTD. I'll try that if ever I get round to it!

Latest purchases (Tri-ang) made in 1974 Hornby Red Dock Shunter boxed one of a batch issued in 1974 to use up spare Red bodies at the factory. Two Railroad 0-4-0's for stock, 6 Railroad cranes, 1 railroad car carrier, 1 railroad car loading unit, and a massive pile of dowlais tank engine bodies!

My latest aquisition, a set of Hornby/Triang Cylinders. I now think I have all the bits to restore the third loco I ever bought - a new body, new tender & new piston rods. All I need to do now is find the chassis!

Modelling a combined 00 and 009 gauge Layout (GWR/GVT) mostly
