Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

Thanks Graskie.  I can't believe I had missed these.  Maybe I had just been looking at Blue Boxes!

Sorry Graskie, another question:  Are either of these models tender driven?

Hornby haven't made tender drive for quite a while and I dont think Graskie runs old locos.

No, you're quite right, WTD. I got rid of all my tender drive locos some time ago now. By the way, RDS, there are several other rebuilt Royal Scots which have been made by Hornby. A quick check on eBay or http://www.hornbyguide.com/ (cut and paste into your browser) should enable you to see the full range, none of which I don't think were ever tender driven.

Non of the Hornby rebuilt Scots were ever made tender drive. Sadly as much as I love Scots this model looks wrong around the chimney. I have a couple of other makers in rebuilt and unrebuilt forms.

Hi vespa I agree with you upto a point when the scots were release hornby did get the chimney wrong but this was quickly corrected by the second year as there was a bit of a fuss made. And as a out of the box it is one of the best lms locomotive around.  Even if you you still not happy with the chimney you can replace it with the brassmasrter detailing kit. Which most of mine have had done. If hornby were to make a change that it be horrible tander base lip that ruins the tender base  body lime.  Also can we have the right bogei wheels for the patirot scot black 5 coronation and royals. If it’s not Crimson, it isn’t a proper engine

I really fancy a rebuilt Scot but whenever I think about it they seem to be out of stock everywhere or only available DCC with sound. One day I'll get my timing right.

Where have you seen any with DCC sound, WTD? That's what I'm looking for. There are loads on eBay just DCC ready or fitted.
