Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

One of my latest procurements is a TMC converted and enhanced 46229 “Duchess of Hamilton.” The original “semi” was Hornby’s R2231 46228 “Duchess of Rutland.” It has been left in lined green livery with early BR tender crest but etched name plates and front number plate have been added, plus a few other items such as real coal. I had to remove the front steps to avoid curve derailments and widened the front bogie back to back measurement to clear my pointwork more securely.

It has also been fitted with Olivia’s sound and working front express passenger lamps. The coal shovelling sound, whether called up specifically or working randomly, is accompanied by firebox flicker.

I had to tweak its functions and CVs a bit, such as reducing volume dramatically. It’s a great loco.

Hi Graskie

That sounds (excuse the pun) a nice loco. I'm still waiting on Hornby back-orders, so nothing new for sometime - at least the bank balance will be ready for the onslaught. BB

If you dream it, you can do it.

Glad your pleased with it atlong last. I have just got 4 out of 6 BR (exLMS) Porthole coaches. They are brilliant.

Having said on another thread that I don't have any Hornby plank wagons, I do now. Somebody bought me the British Insulated & Cables Ltd wagon as a belated birthday present. A change of couplings and a bit of weathering it looks pretty good.

Well, I've just been testing and tweaking my new Fowler 4F 0-6-0 fitted with working front lamps and sound. I would have preferred the converted Hornby model, but beggars can't be choosers, not that I am one, of course.

Runs great, sounds great. Just a shame it doesn't have tender wheel pickups.

I would like my latest aquistion to be a 'Rebuilt Royal Scot ' that is either DCC ready, DCC fitted or a DC one that is convertable.

I don't know if there is such a model.

I managed to get another late crest 'C' for re-numbering. This one from our local model railway dealer.

I have two of them, RDS. They are Hornby R 2824 46100 "Royal Scot" DCC ready and R 6828X 46102 "Black Watch" DCC on board, both hardly run. I would love one with sound.

That company was not far from me in Prescot and Helsby. The Prescot site is now a vast new shopping area and some waste land (possibly now built on). Nearly everyone in Prescot worked at the "BI" (BICC). Since the UK wire industry seems to have died a death, from cables to plain wire, many factories in my area are now gone and knocked down. Even the RL team is now the Wolves instead of the Wires.
