Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

My wife bought me a Sharge track cleaning wagon for Xmas. I'm hopeful it will be a very useful wagon.

Les, lucky you. Have you something big to pull it with. Think i read somewhere, it needs a strong loco.

Hi John - I have a Sharge track cleaning wagon, and a Class 08 pulls it with no trouble. B

If you dream it, you can do it.

How does the Sharpe track cleaning wagon handle points? I’m looking to invest in one but I know some get stuck or have difficulty on points.

My name is long, so just call me Lee.

They're OK going forward, but I find mine derails quite easily when being pushed, and not only over points either. BTW, you put 'Sharpe' but its 'Sharge'.

I usually pull my sharge with my (Blue Box) 0-6-2T 5637. It handles points ok, but it is ropey on the level crossings. XYZ

I think I found adjusting the back to back wheel spacing helped.

I find the cleaning pad cloth(?) can catch on point rod pins if they are a fraction too long.

If you dream it, you can do it.

Yes, good point. I've recently built my goods sidings using servos on the points. These move in an arc, so the pin protrudes through the tie bar at varying heights during its travel. I therefore will not be using the Sharge there.
