What's your latest aquisition?


Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Agreed, a very nice model, and very nice presentation as well.

I've been cataloging some recent aquisitions today that I bought as a job lot.

This is just the rolling stock and vehicles. I'm now up to 110 coaches and 262 wagons. That should fill a few sidings.

Underneath that beautiful shell is a vacuous void. That is too empty. Boom, hiss, I'll be here all night!

Is that the new 2MT?

Received a R3682 Duchess of Gloucester - looks great on the face of it, but ....

  1. Tender ladder needed attention. Repaired.
  2. Coal pusher steam exhausts - one missing. Now repaired - wire and paint.
  3. Pipework missing under one side of the loco cab. Need to review options.
  4. Centre driver hex bolt slightly misshapen, must have been removed with pliers and valvegear 'back-to-front'. Easily resolved.

Nothing I cannot fix, so challenge accepted! 'Win price' was pretty good but seller obviously had no idea anything was wrong judging by the 'Buy it Now' price, not paid as won on auction.

My newest acquisition is the 2023 club locomotive. A fine runner, I am planning to put a decoder in it though.

I did add a floor to the cab, I think i looks better that way.

In the Hornby turntable video of the 2MT, I was struck by how nice the pipework looked on top of the boiler.

Very pretty locomotive indeed.

I just had a R30232 "Lion" pack with the flat bed wagon pack and the R1233M CC Christmas train set with an extra wagon to make up the "free" postage 250 pounds requirement, delivered here in Aussie land yesterday, just 9 days after ordering. - including a weekend. Meanwhile an order from Sydney just 1100 kms away 2 weeks ago and still not here.
