Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

They were definitely 'top of the range' when they came out in the late 70's wasn't it?

Very nice.

Just received a Hornby Class 91 and DVT GNER livery from Hattons and 3 Mk4 GNER coaches from TMC. They were all well packaged and shipped quickly.

Hi Al

They were made between 1979 till 1991.

An interesting point the brown seat units was made from 79 to 85, the white table seat units were made from 86 to 91.

I remember seeing them in the windows of the original Hattons on Smithdown Road and of the former Hobbies and Beatties downtown in Liverpool ...

These are easily my favorite looking locos, hopefully one day I'll have the whole line up.

It's interesting that the Earl Marischal has the old style tender connection, while the Lord President has the new style connector. I received a notification that my R30130 "Thane of Fife" has been dispatched and will arrived tomorrow too.

I didn't get the R3983 because I have the SS model on pre-order.

My name is long, so just call me Lee.

Mine is the Rapido Lion. I chose this over the hornby one since it had a narroe tention lock coupling which I thought I could easily swap for a wide version (so it could pyll my Triang Roacket coaches.

However, the loco is not fitted with an NEM pocket as the coupling locates directly onto the dovetail that a pocket would normally fit into. Thankfully the solution was easy, I just swapped the wide trianf couplings on the coached for some narrow tension locks recovered from some Bachmann coaches or wagons.

Modelling a combined 00 and 009 gauge Layout (GWR/GVT) mostly

I've just been reminded why I use certain Hobby stores.

I had a problem with 'another manufacturer's' Class 68 (yum) locomotive, purchased 10 months ago off Rails of Sheffield.

For some strange reason, the lighting works in both directions, but the motor is only powered in the forwards direction, nothing if reversed.

Supplying power separately the motor, it works perfectly in both directions.

I dropped a line to Rails yesterday, having seen the poor locomotive lying forlorn in the siding for the last month - since the observation - and within less than 1 hour a RM label was emailed to me with 'please return to us, we'll try and effect a repair' PLUS 'If not able, we'll return to the dedicated dealers to complete the repair'.

FANTASTIC SERVICE off Rails. Thank you.

Al.
