Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

Just 'won' a Hornby super detail EWS Class 08 shunter.

I'd been meaning to get one for some time, and finally bit the bullet.

Looks a nice model (I know how they go - got a Hornby and a Bachmann one already - both B.R.)

Quick update; "Falcon" arrived today, and I'm rather pleased.

The large Heljan locomotives are extremely good runners and haul very well.

Falcon's a nice model - forerunner to the Class 47?

Just received from my step-son (who lives in America and is in Aussie for a visit) a Proses RLR-01 Advanced Power Railer and 2 (TWO) Hornby R-004 British Industrial Sand Hopper wagons, both in mint condition in original boxes.

I can second that. I have a Heljan Class 33 and nothing seems to stop it, (aside of removing power from the track smiley of course). A superb runner. I use it to haul my Sharge track cleaner.

Funny you should mention that, I've got my lovely, self-weathered steel-wheeled BR 33 out, and it's better than I remember! Superb little, HEAVY locomotives.

Not so little if you ask me.

Totally agreed - heavier than the not light Bachmann 25's.

On a Hornby note, after the EWS 08 'win', I purchased a light kit from my mate Jason / Stickswipe. This is quite a complicated kit requiring precision drilling of the dummy lamps.

I failed last time, and had to remove the moulded lamps, replacing with Springside lamps I managed to drill - permit the optical fibre to enter.

I'd noticed the BR blue weathered 08 had been becoming increasingly erratic.

Took an hour today to pull her apart, clean, check over the chassis .... yes, it's the motor.

Serves me right I suppose - this is one I'd often left gently ambling around the rails for hours at a time. Light kit is still superb - combined cab, and white / red lighting.

New motor ordered, and chassis left ready to receive.

Not cheap, but includes part of the cradle, drive cup and flywheel.

That should be her set for another few years' operation. Chassis is super smooth.

Hi

Just gone slightly mad and brought myself another Wrenn Brighton Bell and the 3 coaches to go with it they being Audrey Vera and car 86 all with white tables.

In view that I have all four named Kitchen first cars with white tables now I might run it as a preserved 6 Belle special, the two motor brake parlour cars 90 and 91 with Audrey, Doris, Hazel and Vera, or as a normal 5 belle unit.
