Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

From Cleethorpes to York the leading loco was Class 47 number 47746 'Chris Fudge' and from York to Morpeth the train was lead by Black 5 number 44932.

Very nice.

Plenty of Black 5's still around and in very 'rude health' - there were 842 made, so I suppose it makes sense!

Just ordered a Class 66 Evening Star from a certain Irish group of enthusiasts - should be superb - it is based on the 'superb but flawed' Hattons' H66 after all.

I remember those Wrenn Brighton Belle units - expensive when new, but so were most items from Wrenn. Nice purchase Tony.

For me, I've purchased a rake of 8 Dapol Turbot wagons - said to be an excellent model.

Hi Al

Yes some Wrenn are a lot cheaper now some of the more scarce models are holding their price, but as many items are now over 30 years old or more its not surprising.

The funny thing is there are people today making new Wrenn rolling stock by using the old moulds not kept by Dapol and/or with the assistance of Dapol with the ones they kept.

There is also a small British company making new locomotives for both Wrenn and Hornby Dublo 3 rail and 2 rail using new metal bodies and old style new chassis and refurbished ones, and some goods wagons.

Just got a Bachmann 10001 from the Bolton swapmeet that someone had attacked with silver paint on the numbers and central band. However it’s an excellent runner and seems fine on 1st radius curves. I built one of the Q Kits versions years ago that I never got to work properly, I think that one will find it’s way onto an online auction site shortly.

Hi Tony, interesting the mention of 'new / remanufactured' models.

Hi Al

Have a look on the Wrenn Railways Collectors Club web site for New Wrenn wagons and Locos, click onto the links section and look at the related web sites for Hornby Dublo related rolling stock.
