Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

Nice find LesXRN.

Big Steam is always eye catching. Nothing bigger on UK rail than Beyer Garratt, as far as I know.

Looking forward to the report of tractive effort!

Latest couple of purchases were non-railway - bit of a side of railway 'curiosity' - mix of a few of Britain's finest - 1/72 Spitfire, Hurricane, Harrier and Lightning ... always been fascinated in all manner of transport, not just cars and railways ...

Lightning will remind me of an airshow at Liverpool Airport when one came in off the Mersey, inverted, noise as the aircraft passed - ie FAST!!

Then it just climbed vertically out of sight!

Just received an old Hornby Intercity 125. I paid US$14.45 for it on on ebay and another $11 shipping.

Still got another 6-wheel coach on the way. As usual, Hornby sends them out one by one.

These are a little outside of my chosen era, but I really liked them, so why not.

My collection is growing, slowly. Managed to picked these up brand new all for £20. 2014, 2004, and 2003 catalogues.

@DRC

How far back are you hoping to go with the catalogues? I have them from 1993 to date - the problem is they take up shelf space. I usually use them for reference when someone on the forum asks a question that can be answered via an old catalogue.

If you dream it, you can do it.

@Bulleidboy

Not really sure about that. I’d like to go back to at least 2000. But I have the buzzwords saved into eBay and Amazon, so whenever they pop up I check them out, and if they’re in decent condition, I’ll pick them up.

Anybody for Titfield....

OK it's not Lion/Thunderbolt, but sister loco Tiger. Seen here in front of "my" shed [shh from Bachmann]. It's hard to think they're both freight locos and that Lion/Tiger are only 9 [yes 9] years younger than Rocket of 1829 with Lion/Tiger built in 1838!

I indicated in a previous comment somewhere on the forum, I've started a 'bit of a folly'. Like most big boys my age, as well as railways I was always interested in flight, particularly military British - did happen!

A recent purchase was from Chester Model Shop of one of my all-time favourites, a Royal Navy Blackburn Buccaneer - remember them well.

All assembled, placed in the 'Museum Area' - exit of the station! - there's an obvious hole in the nose cone - the refuelling boom is missing! No sign anywhere in the box.

They did that strangest of things, and called me, and explained the 'limited edition certificate packet', also containing the boom, could be underneath the plastic box insert.

I'd already looked there - not hard enough. Sure enough, taped inside the insert was the said certificate (not bothered about that really) and the boom - job done.

Here's a shout out for another GOOD 'local model shop' helping their customers - THANK YOU Paul (they do model railways as well I believe).

Despite me saying after getting my BR Scotsman that would be my last purchase this year I’ve just ordered the Coronation Duchess! Couldn’t resist after being unavailable for so long.

still have the 85th Mallard and Dublo Mallard on pre order plus the Coronation 66. This is getting expensive!

A blue box V3 2-6-2T and have just had an email from Hornby to say my A3 Harvester is in stock and will be on it way to me soon.
