Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

I was wondering how well and consistently it maintains temperature as the battery becomes discharged.

Would hate to be part-way through soldering when it 'freezes'.

@atom3624

I used it first time today, heating up is slightly longer than I would like, but I have been using for on/off for over an hour with soldering, removing solder and soldering again, battery have used roughly 50%. Only thing, I don't like is, as soon as remove your thumb or finger from sensor, it start to cool down straight away. But I imagine that is to preserve the battery life. Another issue (maybe) difficult to get replacement or different size tips, are from china and delivery time could take a month on cheap stuff with cheap postage.

Here is the link of actual product:

Only one unit per customer, as per the website.

I have just received an email from Hornby to say that my pre-ordered Hornby Dublo Merchant Navy Class "Lamport and Holt" has arrived in the warehouse.

If you dream it, you can do it.

You seem to be having lots of good luck with pre-orders, BB. What's your secret? grin

@Deem

8W seems a bit light. Let us know how it goes on multiple jobs.

@Brew Man

Well at least it wasn't in the same Container as the missing Martello'shushed

I have never had any problems with pre-orders and deliveries - I did have a few issues with my credit-card not working, but that now appears to have resolved itself.

If you dream it, you can do it.

@Deem

Thanks for the information.

I've an old 'soldering station' still in use, so will keep for now.

Are you sure it is 8W? Agreed, seems very low.

I would expect at least 30-35W.

Al.

I haven't notice any difference compare to my soldering station, which if my memory is correct, is 18W. Battery hold the charge and for my needs at the moment it is sufficient.

My Dublo Merchant Navy Lamport and Holt is also on its way. Will be my first Merchant Navy class.

My name is long, so just call me Lee.
