Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

Brought 12 peco points and 12 yards of flexitrack code 75. Not very exciting I know but having a fiddle yard for the layout should make it more fun to play with having to change the trains all the time.

If it’s not Crimson, it isn’t a proper engine

I just bought a second 'first and last' intercity 125 pack, so I can run all blue and grey and all GWR green, each with four coaches and a buffet car.

it seems inappropriate not to mention those that died on that fateful day in 2004, of which the driver of the 125 that day, Stan Martin, is dedicated to within this train pack.

  • Stanley Martin, 54, of Torquay, Devon (the train driver)
  • Anjanette Rossi, 38, of Speen, Berkshire (the mother of Louella Main)
  • Louella Main, 9, of Speen, Berkshire (the daughter of Anjanette Rossi)
  • Charlie Matthews, 72, of Warminster, Wiltshire
  • Barry Strevens, 55, of Wells, Somerset
  • Emily Webster, 14, of Doccombe, Moretonhampstead, Devon

Pleased to announce the early arrival of HST 125 Swallow Executive Railroad, Was promised for Monday, so Saturday morning was a pleasant surprise. It will run with the dual bogie drive model, and an assortment of 20ish year old models. I do like the Class 43.

Mine was a weathered Hornby R2716 Standard 4 class. It was advertised as broken with the speedo fallen off and the front buffer beam completely wrecked. I took the buffer beam off one of the scrap tender bases I have ( I convert most of my Hornby locos to decoder in tender, so I have lots of old tender bases). It is not concurs with the fix, but it doesn't not matter to me. The rest of the loco is immaculate and runs really well.

Two Pi Victory 0-6-0T, nice runners but the next 18 chips will not program!

Modelling a combined 00 and 009 gauge Layout (GWR/GVT) mostly

Hornby standard class 4s, new design with decoder in the tender. I was really surprised as to how well they run.

I've just picked up a Vitrains Class 37 in Civil Engineers Grey and Yellow.

Beautiful.

I didn't need it.

Such a shame Vitrains are no longer producing these stunning models.

Sourcing replacement traction tyres may be problematical.

Assuming that's aimed at my Vitrains Class 37 post, this is my fourth Class 37 and not one has traction tyres on.

I've had one three years and none seem to struggle.
