Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

Finally got my third 9F, and decided to pick up another Princess Royal, the R3854 Duchess of Kent. Got the R3711 Princess Marie Louise and the R3713 Princess Arthur of Connaught on the way too.

But I think I'll give the impulse buying a rest over Christmas and see what pre-orders roll in.

My name is long, so just call me Lee.

I think I made a miscalculationjoy - Just acquired a "new" Merchant Navy Class 35011 General Steam Navigation - it will become 35006 Peninsular & Oriental S. N. Co. - I have just checked my collection of M/N's and I appear to have thirty four - they only built thirty. Oooops!

Hi BB

How many are in as built with the air smoothed casing?, How many are in rebuilt condition? nothing wrong with one of each.

Hi Tony57 - All are "rebuilt" - I do have two or three in original as built format, but I like the rebuilts having passed Nine Elms and Stewarts Lane twice a day from mid 1964 until the end of steam, and having commuted into Waterloo during that time (actually until 2009). So whereas I did not see them all, I saw a fair few. BB

Just received an as-new Bachmann Stanier Mogul, for less than 3 figures - literally looks brand new and all of the 'Stanier traits' are there - nice-looking locomotive and I hope I like her running.

Pre-operation inspection has started - initially the tender is a more-reasonable weight - locomotive as received feels quite a decent weight so may require little if any additions.

I'll normally go over all screws and bolts, touch of oil / grease here and there, add weight where able to aid adhesion / traction - hate seeing spinning wheels with only 3 coaches but won't 'kill' a locomotive either, add 'practical detailing' from the pack and crew.

Brake rods, oiling and crew added - drainpipes and front steps to add.

Just running her in now - very quiet and smooth - very nice model.

Got a Bachmann Class 47. Very nice engine I must admit.

Not a loco or other bit of rolling stock but a book I had been after for years. i got the later version (and the Electric Locos in 4mm scale) from the WHR at a massive discount in the late 1980s but hadn’t seen this earlier version at a decent price since. This one has all the ‘interesting’ diesels in it rather than just the classes that still existed when the later one was revised. Great book;
