Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

For my birthday I treated myself to 7 boxed Wrenn Goods wagons including 4 North Thames Gas (NTG) yellow steel open wagons with coal loads to go with my NTG Yellow R1 tank locomotive, will post a photo when they all arrive.

Does the Manor live up to the Sam's Trains build up - it seemed a tad exaggerated to me?

I ordered 6 Mk2 bogies to "modernise" three of my Hornby Mk1s but I received a package containing the MK1 bogies but nothing to say where they are from. I have contacted the seller and am waiting for a reply as it is unlikely to be from anyone else but it seems to be several days early.

Modelling a combined 00 and 009 gauge Layout (GWR/GVT) mostly

Hi John, I had some 'misgivings' with some of the fit and finish, but he did nothing but sing praises - was super happy - almost Hattons Class 66 happy shall we say!

Must admit, my Hattons 66 remains one of my favourites - superb locomotive.

If its half as good as Sam was implying, its excellent!

Hi Al

I don't own a class 66 so can't comment .However as far as I can see the fit and finish of the manors are excellent as is the running so I'm in agreement with Sam whoever he is

The thing is with the Manor it ticks all the boxes, don't have to take loco apart to fit DCC so that the separately fitted parts fall off. I ordered the sound fitted one as it is a good deal for sound. At the price Dapol are charging most sensible people will be happy.

You are right I purchased the dcc ready lydham manor decoder fitting is breeze as is connecting the tender. I also purchased Hinton manor dcc fitted as it was cheaper than buying a decoder both run and look superb

As for Sam he is a guy that does reviews, a bit annoying at times but generally if he says it is a good loco it is. He also notices things other reviewers don't, one I know never seems to find fault with anything, I know she gets freebies, so sometimes the reviews reflect that. Sam's track is Hornby laid on carpet so generally if a loco runs round that it will run round mine. The only one I did think he was a bit unfair with was the Bachmann 9F. I have one of these and to me it runs and looks ok. There again it depends whether you get a bad one.
