Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

Posted at 07:59:15 Tue 19 Mar 2013

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

Sorry, not unpacked it yet. I'll report back when I do - later today.

If you dream it, you can do it.

Just switched on without airbrush attached - exceptionally quiet.

If you dream it, you can do it.

My Accurascale 55 does actually go round my track ok, it does derail on one set of points but they have always been problematic and I can bypass them on the other parallel track. I wouldn't have said my track is that good, but it does have large seeping radii and Peco medium radius points. It does sound good, yes I bought the sound one as the package wasn't much more than a new Hornby class 87 without the sound.

My latest acquisition is the old Triang Pedigree wagons. I bought the new Hornby one and then found the old Triang ones weren't that bad. Considering you can get them for about £6.00, off EBay they are really good value. I swapped the wheels to Dapol modern ones and I managed to buy 5 for the price of the new Hornby one, admittedly that didn't include postage. I did hear someone comment that the colour is wrong on the new Hornby one, I know it is different from the Triang ones.

Hi Colin, I had one of them 45 years ago!!

Just 'won' a good, used Bachmann Peppercorn A1 North British for a good price - to add to the 'blue B.R.' steam locomotives I seem to be collecting!

Canadian Pacific, Mallard, King, (Bachmann) Tornado, East Asiatic Company, and now North British. Quite a mix - there are many more but I'll probably stop there ....

My latest acquisition was a Rivarossi Burlington 550 diesel. It's quite old, and stutters at times, but runs very well!

I have other likings other than Hornby, such as Bluey (Award Winning Australian T.V. show), Tom-tom the choo-choo, and other things.

I've ordered some 3d printed GCR Barnums; and now I just need to work out what paints to get, so as I can paint them in varnished teak.
