Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

Another out of place purchase for my layout. I've always liked the Class 86, but never bought one as I don't run overhead wires. However, as my other half hails from Preston I wanted something relevant to her home area as it were so bought this. Same thing goes for the Lancashire & Yorkshire Pug as well. And "No," the name on the 86 is not a reflection on my wife. stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye

Sorry. It's not clear on the photo's. The 86 is 86213 Lancashire Witch!

Split chassis?
I purchased a Mayflower, and had to get axle centres - runs acceptably but those plastic isolating axle centres are a pain - at least the quartering's easy!

Pretty sure of it; since the specific model was first made in 1997, and then produced on and off until 2004-ish; definately before NEM's were introduced.

Once the body's off you can see immediately - 2 cast halves, insulated, but held together, with a motor jammed in the middle.

Changing the axle centres tbh was pretty easy. Even if running well, it may be worthwhile emailing Bachmann for a set - spares are really 'quite reasonable' and customer service is excellent.

If you've not done it before, but need to - perhaps to change a motor, be very careful of the tiny springs used to ensure a good electrical contact - they can 'ping lost' very easily!

Won on eBay a very tidy and well-running ex-Caledonian Single in presentation case. Amazing that Hornby could produce this for a modest price . A companion for my blue-liveried version. Though having them both on the track at once would be an obvious mistake.

Just got these two Tri-ang clockwork locos off an internet auction site intended for spares but they are too good to dismantle. Both work perfectly although the seller went a bit overboard with the 3 in 1!

I decided that Wykeham Station needed a sandwich bar. I saw this on Ebay - described as rare - it is dated 2012. The "newness" needs toning down a bit - but now you can get your bacon sarnies before setting out on your journey.

If you dream it, you can do it.

Caledonian Sleeper Train Pack from 2008. Been after one for ages so well pleased to finally secure one.

Hi

Gone slightly mad I have brought 3 class 86's

R800 Royal Anglian Regiment

R383 Frank Hornby

R335 Halley's Comet

A Lima 87 Couer De Lion

A Class 90 R595 in post red

All with now fully working pantographs ready for my newly planned modern layout with Triang working Catenary

I like the working catenary system idea - it was great in the 70's - updated, should be better than ever ...
