Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

FANTASTIC!!

Limited edition 2020 Hornby of course .... !!

The available proprietary gear is huge now, of really acceptable quality before you even consider the 'built' commissioned models which are superb.

Wish I had the time, space and, erm ...  I would love to 'attack' our garden - just big enough I reckon!!

Enjoy, sounds like a nice project.

I believe 4482 "Golden Eagle" was the only A4 that Hornby has made in LNER Apple Green, cat no R313 in 1990.

This livery was applied only to a handful of A4s namely 4482, 4483, 4484, 4485, 4486, 4487, 4493, 4494, and 4495 when new, but all received the standard Garter Blue within two to three years.

Wow! In your second paragraph, do you mean in real life as a working steam locomotive, or that Hornby changed there mind and changed the colour?

Thanks Al. It is something I have been thinking about for ages. Only going to have a small layout on the existing boards.

Small but outstanding.

If you dream it, you can do it.

Nine real LNER A4s were painted in apple green.

4482, Golden Eagle

4483, Kingfisher

4484, Falcon

4485, Kestrel

4486, Merlin

4487, Sea Eagle

4493, Woodcock

4494, Osprey

4495 Golden Fleece

Only Golden Eagle has been made in LNER green by Hornby but may also have been made in other liveries.

@walkingthedog

Will you not miss OO Gauge? I think I would, if I decided to change gauge. O Gauge is certainly remarkble in it's level of deatil, but so are some of the OO Gauge models. The biggest probably is with O Gauge is the cost of the models and how much space it all takes, so the same board containing a O Gauge will have less running space, than the same size boardhaving OO Gauge track on it. I am sure you know that already, Brian.

Yes Jacob I do realise it is bigger. O gauge wagons are only about £10 more than OO. Locos about double the price but I reckon I will only have 3 instead of 103. Be nice to start something new. Probably won't be on here any more. No point.

It will take a while I should think, to save up for a new locomotive, with those prices! Laughing Wink Smile

I hope you do not leave the Hornby Forum. You are a valuable asset to this forum. Smile
