Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

This is the R54 I mentioned earlier. As you say, Sarah, there are many variations. But I like this one the best. Original headlight works quite brightly, too. I am going to check if this one has smoke and magnadhesion. The Paisley video showed a couple of them in action with really impressive smoke effects.Worth seeing.

I was looking at one and thought it looked quite nice, but thought I needed something 'more relevant' to the approximate time period I'm more focused on - my childhood and present day / Heritage.

A Hornby Merchant Navy Tender - SWB - now attached to 35001 Channel Packet. It was an ebay purchase in mint condition - even the steps were still there.

If you dream it, you can do it.

Why have you changed the tender Barry?

Why have you changed the tender Barry?

Many pictures of 35001 in the early sixties showed it with the SWB tender. I also wanted a tender with easy conversion to Kadee couplers, which this new tender was - a direct replacement.

If you dream it, you can do it.

There is a very good item/article in bloodandcustard.net which lists the various tenders that were attached to the loco's. Basically there were three types of tenders attached to M/N Class of which Hornby have produced two. The articles shows how they can be moved around to give, in some cases the correct tender attached to the loco at a certain time. The tenders were swapped around, usually when servicing.

If you dream it, you can do it.
