Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

Hi

Sorry about confusion, too many buttons for a bear of small brain.

Having just acquired the Ruston 48DS Queen Anne, I was wondering what decoder everyone is using as it seems tight for space.

Thanks

Nice locomotive, atom3624. Wink Smile

I also spy a blue BMW i8 model behind the Class 08! Laughing

I find an Olympus lens brush really useful for fine dusting. Retractable. Love those 08's !

Sorry guys, I'd slept twice since I posted!!

Very nice locomotive - had a good run of it on 'the 4th radius circle' test track - both ways, both ways, if you get what I mean - that is after I had the 'lid' off, greased and oiled, removed the chip and blanked off - runs every bit as smoothly as my green Bachmann 08 - which is excellent.

i8 indeed sir - my 'car mouse' - petrolhead at heart - father was a mechanic, so was contaminated from birth, you could say!!

Pity the dust wasn't finer, I could leave it as 'basic fatigue'!

Nice locomotive it is, and welcome addition.

(Was running my Heljan Western this evening - another 'blue locomotive' I've renamed D1000 Western Enterprise courtesy of Fox ... very smooth, quiet and powerful!)

That 08 shunter looks great in the BR blue. Should really get one myself at some point.

It's one of those 'every track should have (at least) one' sort of locos - blue or green.

Very pleased with a loco I have wanted for a long time. I managed to get one in excellent condition at a reasonable price. Most of thes R54 "Hiawathas" seem to have a lot of damage or the asking prices are very high. Oscar Paisley's videos of this loco on YT further tempted me and I have just fixed on new nameplates to replace the faded originals. I had considered buying one from Canada but the freight and import duty killed that idea.

Nah...

The 0-6-0 Diesel shunters look best in unlined Black, with the early crest! Wink

Ok, my humble opinion!

They are almost an honorary steam loco, with those outside coupling rods...and smoke coming out of the top at the front.

When I was younger, so much younger than today, I mistook a dirty blue one for a black steam loco, and was a little exited, until my elder brother pointed out my error!

The R.54 locos have quite a few variations..

No longer active.

I'm with you Sarah, unlined black early emblem, no wasp stripes gets my vote every time!
