Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

I've been offloading a few less-used locomotives to fund some new purchases.

I've just got hold of Hornby EWS Class 60 and 67 - can't wait to receive - will post photos once received.

Just got a Hornby Railroad 9f black £70 eBay  which will go nicely with my Crosti's and can be detailed to the same level. And a Hornby GWR Castle wich will be switched to BR. And renamed once I've decided to which one.

If it’s not Crimson, it isn’t a proper engine

I've been 'very good' lately, and have been eliminating - selling on - many of my multiple purchases.

I've 'gone modern' with a couple just made - one has just arrived - Super Detail Class 67 # 67 025 Western Star.

Can't make my mind up whether it's Ugly, Interesting or Fantastic!!

One thing it is is HEAVY - haven't weighed it yet but I'd guess about 500 g.

My guess was way out - just weighed it - 625 g. This thing should PULL!!

Looking forwards to trying it out with the '60' when it arrives - probably tomorrow.

As anticipated, 'the Beast' 60 048 has arrived!!

Doesn't feel any heavier than the 67, perhaps lighter even .... not much in it ...

Just weighed them both side by side.

Class 67: 624g

Class 60: 643g

Electronic kitchen scales - not verified but will be close.

That's pretty heavy for both of them - should really 'haul' well!!

Looking forwards to the moment when I can test them out, 'though I'll go gently to start with, as they recommend.

Some pics of what's not shown in my upper post...

Your "Rocket" looks to be in great condition. I hope Hornby eventually do a new tooled version of this, especially now that they have become very proficient at producing small locos.

I treated myself to R3614 LMS Rebuilt Patriot 5521 "Rhyl" for Christmas. I have been waiting for them to release an LMS liveried version of the rebuilt patriot since they brought it out years ago!

Also, a rake of Collet Bow Ended Coaches in Crimson and Cream to go with my WR Early BR King, Castle and Star (R4684A, R4685A, R4686A, R4687A, R4688A). I now have at least one rake of coaches in the correct livery for all my locos...

Scored from ebay.co.uk as  very little hornby shows up on the U.S. version...  bottom one is a kp nuts one but flash glare hides it. All immaculate!!

Addition to the coaching stock.

2 x R4842 composite coach,

1 x R4840 4 compartment 2nd brake

1 x R4841 4 compartment 2nd brake.

Makes a nice train with the Maunsell restaurant coach inserted.

So I now have a six car Devon belle, six coach Bachman MK1 set, Push and pull set , a Mk 1 brake and a GUV .

All green except the Pullmans, time for some colour ,blood and custard next , may be a marrow brake for parcels.

The Hornby EWS Class 60 and 67 have REALLY impressed me - fantastic 'Super Detail'.

Got to admit, this latest addition PROBABLY has them beaten, or at least equalled on detail ....

Dapol Class 68  -  68 008 Avenger
