What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Thank you! I saw one on ebay a couple years ago, not as complete, but didn't go ahead with the purchase. This one I got for less than the other one sold for, and I wasn't going to let it pass!

I'll post pics when it arrives!

Never heard of this set before so have just googled and it does look like a nice set ,would have been a sought after set in its day I would suspect,,,one to keep in the cupboard and preserve,,,

From all of what I read, it was offered during Flying Scotsman's US tour, but since it had a high price, it didn't sell well. So the remaining stock was broken up and sold to distributors separately.

I'm hoping it's all there, and from one extreme close up of the box contents, it looks like it still has the decal sheet for the station, which had destinations of US stops the train was to visit!

Once I get this set, I'll post some really nice pics on here. As for keeping it put away, I know I'm at least going to service the loco, make sure she runs well. But I may still bring it out and run it from time to time on my layout - that's what she was built for!

One of Santas Dwaufs as had to many wine gums and let slip they have wrapted three A3s bound for me.

Latest addition is the InterCity 125 in the Hornby livery. Only the loco I’m afraid. I’ll need to get some extra coaches and a dummy van. Still looks great. Not sure if I should run it with virgin coaches or Cotswold coaches. Pretty sure it belonged to Cotswold rail for a period of time.
