Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

I've been avoiding purchusing one, but have had to buy one to give the extra length required to store a six coach train.

A curved point! Everything you read says don't use them ,not a problem everything takes it with ease, except the air smooth West Country . But this derails on the straight on points on crossings, so not too worried.

The curved point is on the entrance to the carnage sidings so is not taken at speed.

still learning and having fun in the sun,

Hi Caiptean

Thanks for the advice.

Yes checked the above , everything appears okay, tested the track with various locks all performed perfectly. The back to back seems correct same as Mallard and Clanline .

The crossovers and points are to be relayed at the end of October ,best to park Wadebridge for now, don't want to crash test against the tiles.

Pending the very latest Duchess of Hamilton, which is back-ordered and due next February, I received my 'very last for now' purchase - Earl of Mount Edgcumbe.

Very surprised despite the 'ice crystal packaging' in that it has some issues which I've mentioned to the seller - some polystyrene cement is required to resolve them, hopefully 'invisibly'.

Pity, but the main part looks excellent - loving the full scale videos (preserved locomotive) which always seem to be at full chat and then some!!

Once repaired I'll get some photos up.

Just found the Hornby Mainline Steam set, complete with track, controller, mat (it looks like it was hardly out of the box!) on ebay.  After the bidding ended, I won it for $27.00 US!

yelrow, it definitely is!  I have mostly Lionel, Ives and American Flyer and the classics in HO (Mantua, Varney, etc.)  But for some reason, the UK trains have always been something I've loved.  My collection is now a combination of mine and my father's (inherited after he passed in January), and it turned out even he had some UK items in his collection!  Found a wonderful clockwork Bassett-Lowke Duke of York loco in his collection, for one!

Hi all, the all new Class 87 "king Arthur". I would say Hornby have set a new standard for an Electric modern model, like was done for the Class 50 and 60. It is stunning. Included are etched nameplates, cab lighting etc, many of which are not described in the catalogue. Paintwork amazing, as are the detailed parts. And it runs so smoothly out of the box its just superb. Thanks Hornby, has taken some time but worth the wait for me! Now, please get out prior Intercity Livery like "Robert the Bruce" and I will buy the second one!

Always was impressed by the 87 in Liverpool Lime Street when they first came out in the late 70's I think, just by the way the relatively small locomotive would be connected to a substantial rake of carriages, the driver would rock up perhaps 10 minutes before departure, sometimes 5 minutes, then a couple of minutes before you would hear the cooling fans whirring, and bang on time ... she was gone, and FAST as well!!

5000 hp if I remember.

The London train would pull out simultaneously with the trans-Pennine pulled by a 47, typically.

This would have been rattling, smoking and revving for 20-30 minutes before departure ... and I LIKE 47's, but the 87 was impressive in doing so little, then so much, instantly!!
