Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

Bought another Bachmann class 416 2EPB in blue & grey livery to go with 3 others I have - 1 in same livery, 2 in pure BR blue. Always loved the look of this class and related ones.

A bit of Blood and Custard for the collection.  I am slowly building a blood and custard rake of the old Tri-ang clerestory coaches now made by Hornby for my 1950's style branch lines.  This one is from the China made Hornby Anglian set and was a bargain. 2 more composites and I have a nice 6 coach rake.

One fault on the HST Rob is that the red feed wire to the decoder is going to the negative feed (cast chassis) of the motor, it should be the other way around if the loco is as per factory in terms of it's insulated wheels in the right position.

Just got myself a Hornby class 08 shunter (finally) in sweet Mainline livery. This is great as I'm trying to model a freight layout eventually. Also works well with my Mainline class 37.

You may need to reverse the motor control wires as well Rob. The grey is normally attached to the left hand brush contact and orange the right hand if memory serves me right. It saves messing about with a CV. Looks like the previous owner was following some sort of instructions backwards.

That is an insiane level of information and very interesting :). I knew that the 2EPBs were from the late 1950s and (thought I knew) they retired mid to late 1980s. Last one went in in 1994 - didn't know that!

I'll have another re-read a bit later on, but it did confirm something which I thought was true in that they often operated in Motor+Dummy combo, but did on occaison work in together to form larger rakes.  When this was done did they always power it using a different engine? One of your photos (wintery one) seems to show this? Or did they somehow manage to slave the motors of each motor car to act as one?

Finally, did were they ever mixed with different coaches tacked on to the end?

Which reminds me: Need to get a Thumper set at some point, though not sure where or how to.
