Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

2510 met a few more of its peers chez nous this evening - more me trying to see how it looks alongside them ...

I recognised the slight 'mark' on the Coronation, near the nameplate - visible in these photos.

I managed to recover this, by cleaning, then lightly spraying with clear sating lacquer.

Replacement fine tips for my Antex soldering iron and the components for my bus snubbers turned up at last via our 3rd world mail system.

Also in the bag some pcb headers and matching plugs so I can make up a more professional patch cable for my ‘black-silver box’ firmware updates.

I'll have to get the actual track started one day!!

Sorry for all of the photos, but one part is still 'young at heart'!

(Agreed, I don't like the draincocks on the FS either - I have a plan ...)

New purchase time!!

I seem to remember an 8-coupled tank engine on the Dart Valley Railway, but doesn't seem to be listed now.

I don't seem to be a great 'fan' of GWR, just appreciate the contribution it made to the ongoing developments of railway travel ...

Can't wait to start 'adding the bits' to this one!!

This one is R3463. It still has the unsprung buffers, but does have a finer detail smokebox door 'dart'.

Fitting the brake rods was a bit of a pain!!

One of the 'eyelets' was broken off, just where it should be, so still permitted the rod to be glued into position - seems to be holding. I'll run it up and down a short test track this evening to see if it stays.

Fitted the front steps - still seems to (just) negotiate 2nd radius curves (can't remember if my test curve is 2nd or 3rd to be honest!!).

Whilst in Lidl today I spotted lots of empty tubes from their fruit and veg poly bags, which I rescued.

These are just the right size for TTS 28mm round speakers. They can be sliced to length to suit the installation.

Other stores may have similar.

Beautiful loco and skillfully photo-ed, HB.  That loco definitely on my future purchases list.
