Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

Latest loco purchase, some minor transfer loss to one cabside otherwise lovely but in need of an overhaul. This is the Tri-ang "Midlander" 3F tender loco, the loco body mould was modified in the 1980's to make the Thomas range James.

I still have one of those buffer stops. It doesn't seem to clip onto modern track.

I have the buffer stop, it's in bits at the moment as one of the buffers had welded itself to the plastic inside due to corrosion of the brass. I will put it back together next weekend.

Another good question raised, why won't it fit modern track, well the cream/dark cream based r.394's were made for Super 4 track which has a higher rail profile, it would simply drop off modern track as the track would be too low. The buffer stop was modified to fit the then new system 6 track in the early 1970's and have a grey base. Hornby still make it today but for some strange reason put the base on the wrong way round!

The buffer stop and box is now in the workshop 48 miles away at present, as I am working away during the week, it will be another week before I return home to take a picture.

ESU LokProgrammer minus the USB link cable. Bit of internet searching required for the correct one.

Hi Froggie here,

Latest arrivals just after Christmas were: an EM1 and 2 EM2s. No chance to try them out yet - but looked good.

Happy New Year to you all.
