Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

Don't know why SWMBO didn't like that purchase, Jeff. That's a real baragin. £5.00 for a Large Breakdown Crane is very cheap, boxed to. Even had the postage on to that and it i very cheap. I paid around £30.00 for my R9216 Large Breakdown Crane (Thomas, 2006), new about 7 years ago. I paid about £16.00 for the R306 Breakdown Crane (Thomas, 1989), used, complete and boxed. Your baragin was better than what I paid for my Thomas Breakdown Crane models.

Jacob, it has a box but it's not the original! Too cheap to leave and no other bids!

Froggie here,

As an update to my comment earlier, the GWR HST and coaches arrived last week (only three days post from the UK!) and smuggled into the house. They look absolutely gorgeous even though I don't usually like the high gloss look (I prefer something a bit more muted). I shall now have to get a couple of sound chips. Unfortunately it'll have to be the MTU sound - much prefer the Valenta - but there you go :((. I shall take it to my local club tomorrow to give it a run-around.

I do have a question and perhaps someone can point me towards the right forum so this one doesn't go OT - where can I find information regarding the likely make up (consist) of 'The Welshman' (eg is a seven or eight trailer formation) and possibly the trailer numbers? Ta.

Cheers,

Phil

Just ordered a Hornby Junior from Hatton's.  I'm a sucker for cheap and cheerful trains!  Plus this will be my Christmas present to myself, and can have it run under the tree this year as an alternate to one of my other OO or HO trains I run.

Also, since I'm going to extend my layout to have an outer loop with no points (just a loop for my older Tri-Ang and other vintage equipment with thicker flanges), I can run it on there as well.

I got one of these:

Just got one of these too. Once I've tested it the intention is to remove the BR emblem and model this http://www.warwickshirerailways.com/gwr/gwrbsh1785.htm sadly I have mislaid the plates!

I thought I would have to remove a BR number plate from the front and a top feed aparatus (the GWR version has this) but was suppised to see the Oxcford model has neither leaving me to remove a painted on shed plate so should be one of the easiest retro fit I've done!

PS very nice layout setting. the first image even has a Cambrian (Welshpool) feel.

Modelling a combined 00 and 009 gauge Layout (GWR/GVT) mostly

Just took delivery of R3339, the very beautiful Duchess of Hamilton as preserved. Great looking model. Looking forward to giving her a run on the mainline as the NRMs locos go out on specials...

A Hornby Wagons Job Lot which cost me only £10.75 and another £3.65 for P&P. Not a bad price, for a few extra's! The money they received for this auction, also goes to charity, which is a bit of a bonus.

This job lot consists of, as follows:

x2 R105 Tidmouth Milk Tanker's (Blue)

x1 R305/R9006 Tar Tanker

x1 Total No. 407 Fuel Tanker (Spilit from R6366/R6789)

x1 Texaco No. 1627 Fuel Tanker (Spilit from R6366/R6789)

x1 Shell No. 65538 Fuel Tanker (Spilit from R6366)

x1 Cattle Wagon (Spilit from R9271)
