Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

I did enjoy it, especially when I found that stall, selling cheap brand new Hornby standard range, RailRoad range and Thomas & Friends range product's! I thought the cheapest for those coaches, was £22.00 each, from Rail of Sheffield and soon I was going to place an order. I was wrong as I proved today! I'm glad I didn't order them after seeing that display today. I would have been annoyed if had placed the order and then seen them for £17.50 each, at The Great Electric Train Show. I didn't hesitate at all today, when I saw how cheap the third verison of James' Coaches, was being sold for.

It was perfect for me, cars and trains. You are bang on right, WTD. It was a great day, especially after finding those coaches, really cheap! Laughing

It's a sahme you didn't make it this year. Hoepfully you will next year. It was a good day out.

A Dapol 'N' gauge GW pannier.........thought I would dig out some 40 year old N gauge track and rolling stock and make up a temporary layout for grandson, (possibly).........the Ford wagons are Hornby Minitrix, the coaches are Trix, the Diesel shunter is Fleischmann all 40 yrs old and the Class 31 is new Dapol........the mini motor controller is fed by a Hornby R965 DC controller.......delivers a much smoother supply to the N gauge motors for better slow speed running.........HB

This was £16 so not really a bargain but it looks nice! Took a risk with this as it's an old Mainline model and I hear parts are hard to come by. The man said it was a good runner......

This next one was about £14 and I was a little embarrassed to win this on ebay as SWMBO was on the warpath because of my spending etc. Oh well it's toooo late now! Another good runner, so we'll see. Awaiting the delivery of both locos. LNER 581

Update:- Sent the Mainline loco back to the man who said it was a good runner 'cos although it 'ran' it had a worn drive gear and screeched a lot, Yhe Hornby is a Wrenn........the first one I have owned, runs nicely.

Shame you had to send the Hornby one back Jeff. Maybe that was to SWMBO's like instead, as you got the money back for it! Laughing

Jacob, yes indeed, she's already spent it. Apparently I'm allowed one loco per month. Second hand of course. Can't afford the new loco prices, even from the 'box shifters'. I'm not sure if she's allowing roll-overs, (if i miss a month). Heck, if she does then maybe I could afford to buy something other than 0-6-0 s! I've always wanted an Evening Star and a Flying Scot.

Also, it was the Mainline loco that was wonky.

Maybe you could stop buying 0-6-0's for a few months and save some money, to buy Flying Scotsman or Evening Star, to that bigger loco that you want.

Jacob, as mentioned it really depends on whether I am allowed to save up!

I see. So if you can't save up, then you could have trouble getting Flying Scotsman or Evening Star, then!

Two new Oxford wagons for £15.00 with narrow couplings from local Model shop's stand at local show........can't help but compare these to the new Hornby wagons at £15.99 each with the old style wide couplings.........HB
