Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

Just received this Wrenn Loriot P having bought it from eBay. These generally go for around £20 unless you find one with the chromed bar near the two brass rivits and then they go for silly money (£100+).

I cannot help feeling that Hornby (and Airfix) missed a trick here by never offering their similar Lowmac in the same livery. Indeed Hornby could still do it.

I have just purchased a ViTrains V2018 Class 37 No.37416 in Royal Scotsman Livery from Hattons, and a Bachmann 32-780V Class 37 No.37248 Loch Arkaig in West Coast Railways Livery off eBay. The Bachmann loco was a Model Rail Ltd edition from I think 2009. Very happy with both.

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams. And she was. She really was.

Let me guess what those bodyshells are for, ThomasTheHornbyEngine! Laughing

The LMS Ivatt Class 2 2-6-2T is to make your own Arthur and the H.K. Porter 0-6-0ST is to make your own Porter; Both of which are engines from Thomas & Friends. Am I right on guessing these two project's?

Yes you are! Later today I'm going to see if I can find a cheap wooden Porter to copy the face from. 3-D printing works, but I'm a mere amateur.

I thought you were. Maybe you don't have to copy the face. Most of the Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway train's faces have been known to fit OO Gauge model railway locomotives perfectly, so you may be able to take the face off the wooden railway toy and glue it onto the H.K. Porter 0-6-0ST body.

I know, but my brother has a wooden setup and I don't want to deprive him of anything. I'll use some form of clay to make a mould, then fill the mould with resin.

You could always by two. One for your brother's collection and one for you to use the face on your custom model railway version of Porter.
