Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

You won't Jacob. Ebay pride themselves in helping buyers get a good deal. If the seller won't give you a complete refund ebay will sort it. Take my word for it.

It is the sellers responsibility to ensure the item is well packed. They should refund you in full then if they wish they can try and get a refund from Royal Mail or who ever damaged the parcel.

I do take your word for it, but none of that will chnage the fact, that the probably the best 0-4-0 Thomas out there for sale, is damaged and unrepairable, meaning I probably won't be able to get another.

Unless it is the only one in the world you will get another eventually. Any way it's up to you.

Well no, it's not the only one in the world, but's hard to get in good condition.

Send it back man you deserve better.   another gooden will come along. Also If anyone is to get into trouble it will be the seller not you. I use ebay alot but I won't except poor goods for good money.

If it’s not Crimson, it isn’t a proper engine

That is a risk though, a buyer takes when buying over the Internet. The item might not be in as good condition as the seller describes and that the risk a buyer will take. This are things that every buyer will take by chance and one day it will go wrong, like I had today.

I just hope I will be able to shift it on, for more than £15.00, so I don't lose out on the cost of the loco, postage and eBay fees. Might be tricky though, being that there is damage.

I agree entirely with WTD.  Normally Sellers will give in as soon as you mention going back to ebay.

Maybe they would, but I don't want to make enemies with fellow eBayers. Not good thing, I don't think and I don't want them to give me bad feedbsck, just because I threatened them, by contacting eBay.

Jacob if you are not going to take the advice given why did you tell us about it. Take it up with ebay. If you don't people on here are going to starrt ignoring your posts. The person who sent you the item packed it incorrectly. How are they going to learn from their mistake if you don't do something about it. It will happen again to somebody else. Surprised

Sorry for telling you guys, but you are right. It could have been packaged up better. It was sent in one of those Sealed Air parcel encelopes. It's a tight fit in there, for Thomas, look at the width of him and he was wrapped up in some bubble wrap, but that wasn't sellotaped together. It could have been done a lot better than it was. I would have prefered it, to have been sent in a cardboard box, than this.
