Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

Although not a model, I've just bought the Observer's Guide to British Steam Locomotives second hand for £15, but it was worth it. A brilliant book, ideal for quick referencing. It includes information on every type of steam loco at the formation of British Railways in 1948 and lists quantities of each class and wheel arrangement. It was published in 1955 so doesn't include withdrawral dates. Also got the more modern Railway Pocket Bible, which has "Everything you want to know about railways". Both are cracking reads and highly recomended if you haven't already got one.

In the dim and distant past you would always find the current (1960 ?) Observers book in my school blazer pocket and at the weekend it was joined by my notebook and pen. For safety, the current Combine was always left at home.

Hornby Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends R9007/1 Thomas the Tank Engine (0-4-0 Locomotive).

0-4-0 Thomas arrived today, but sadly, it got damged in the post. To much damage has been obtained, so I will have to resell him on eBay. I am very disapointed that this has happened. Cry

I would go back to the seller and ask for a refund.  Damage usually (not always of course), occurs due to poor packaging.  You risk bad feedback yourself by selling a damaged item, even if you think you have described the damage fully.

@walkingthedog and RDS

I contacted the seller and they won't let me return it to them, however, they gave me a refund of £5.00 back so, when I resell it, I going to have to try and make back the other £15.00, so I don't lose out.

It's such a shame though, becuase the 0-4-0 Thomas' are rare and hard to find good condition one's. The damaged one I have was the best in eBay. It was new, never been ran and undamaged, before it got dispatched into the world of Royal Mail. I don't think I will be able to get another now.

Jacob I'm pretty sure ebay will get you all your money back. Contact them and tell them what has happened, they are extremely good.

I'm a bit nervous at doing that. I don't want to get into trouble / get my account blocked or suspended, etc.
