Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

@Jeff.

Was a lucky find Jeff, a friend spotted them in a shop and offered some cash, a bit of haggling got it down to £8.99.

Latest purchase, needs a motor! Transfers are original Tri-ang ones, but Jinty is a MK2 so something of a rarity. There is some movement in the early plastic causing transfer distortion but otherwise ok. Not bad for £2 as a non runner.

I do love the Triang Jinty, moreso than the later Hornby model. I used mine as a double header or static scenic item for a few months until a suitable motor became available

Thanks to my better half for this! The Class 90 is my favorite loco (in the whole wide world you can say) and Hornby would similarly be my favorite model train manufacturer.

I've criticized Hornby in the past for many a things, one being a lack of modern standard AC electric, but thankfully Hornby have a Class 87 on the way and blimey, I love this Class 90. I got it cheap and this year it's now where it belongs in the Hornby RailRoad range. The only thing I don't like about it is the pantograph.

I expected a cheap plastic "toy-like" thing, but it's much more than that. It's a beautiful little budget model. In future I hope to use the PH Designs kit and detail this model to be at par with my other Hornby models.

I'd give it a rating of 9/10. -1 for the chunky pantograph. The model can be slightly upgraded, but I doubt Hornby will ever do that...it's not a steamie!
