Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

That must have been a real challenge Graskie. I have just changed the body on my 56xx and it fits like a glove, not a lot of spare room.

This weeks aquisitions are three caledonian coaches unboxed off ebay for a tenner, it unloved condition. Fortunately I had the right boxes laying about in my box stock.

Also this week a caley single to go with them!

The Caley coaches had the usual workshop treatment including paintwork, de-rusting of the axles and weights etc.

They look lovely now, just got to put some new glazing

into two boxes, easy job.

The single is also very nice too, again it's been through the workshop this week.

Also purchased this week was a Hornby R.52S Jinty with smoke, it's been rebuilt this week and is in the workshop this afternoon for a rewire using new correct wire.

Just bought another two corridor Midland Clerestories. I will soon be polishing away the "Midland" and the class designations (which I have already done for anther 3) and fixing GWR and Garter transfers as per the 1908 Olympic GWR clerestories.

Once

re-varnished these make quite a passable representation of the 1912-1922 GWR maroon and looks quite presentable alongside the 1908 coaches.

The only tip I have is don't polish away (with Brasso)the old markings too hard otherwise you'll go through to

the black plastic.
Modelling a combined 00 and 009 gauge Layout (GWR/GVT) mostly

I bought a book today of the last days of steam in the North West. Nothing Hornby.

As a very young lad in the early 1950's I often saw Deltic, 10000, 10001, 10201, 10202 and 10203 through Blisworth on the WCML. I haven't got any of them yet for my railway but what sort of livery would they have had then? I can't quite remember but wouldn't

mind getting some of them eventually (with sound, of course).
