What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think the Hornby (8 pin) Alex has lights as standard, but it shouldn't be hard to do. This is the Dapol (21 pin) version which comes with them fitted. R-

I have just got a Hornby HST R2704 in Virgin Red / Grey livery with Olivia's trains sound in both power cars. I will do a short video and put it on my youtube channel with a link in a few days. I just need to turn them into unbranded, I have seen red transfer patch to cover up the Virgin logo, looks good with the unbranded Virgin MK3 coaches.

Just bought a Bachnann ROD 2-8-0 for £50. to the best of my knowledge one never came to Leicester. so will be turn into the standard it ex GCR. which did

If it’s not Crimson, it isn’t a proper engine

Hi Fazy

I wouldn't expect to find the ROD on the Midland line. I'd expect them to be common on the GC line through Leicester as it was a major class.

Just bought 3 ICI methanol tankers to compliment 4 I already have. That makes a nice train of 7 with two barrier wagons and a guards brake van. I love tanker wagons and sadly parted with about 15 HD metal ones some time ago. Has anyone built the ex Aifix/Dapol tankers recently as I am considering getting a set?

I have built a lot of the Airfix 22 ton tankers over the years although recently I have tended to butcher them to make other vehicles (six weedkiller water wagons and an anchor mounted class B being the most recent.). They are not difficult to build but would benefit from brass axle bearings (Romford), pin-point axle metal wheels and a little bit of ballast weight.

From memory my Dapol kit came with plastic and metal wheelsets.

It was still a lightweight though and I filled the tank with some old nuts that were exactly the right hex size to fit the inside diameter of the tank.

Its a poor runner even so so stays parked up in the oiler yard area.

Hi pp yes but I think I will turn it into a standard 04 2-8-0. which I'm sure I have a picture of one at Leicester 15C. I'll have to have a good look for it.

Along with a V2 and K1 and prity sure some B1's
