Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

My most recent addition is a Bachmann N.R.M. Great Northern Atlantic in G.N. livery as 251. They produce the loco in 3 colours; G.N., L.N.E.R. & B.R. So that makes two G.N. locos available their colours the other being the J52 also available in the three aforementioned colours [which I also have in G.N. colours]. So how about Hornby producing a Gresley A1 in G.N. colours, in this case 1471 Sir Frederick Banbury, as 1470[N] is available in early L.&.N.E.R. colours. 1471 being the second prototype and 1472 the first production version, that's still with us at the N.R.M.

Hornby issued the N2 in GNR livery a few years ago. And the J50 is a GN type although I don't recall ever seeing this in GN livery.

R4534D BR Pull-Push Coach Pack - another impulse purchase when it was announced! I think I now have five sets of these, plus the one that came with the M7 tank.

If you dream it, you can do it.

Yes it does look good Rog. I have an older version! It would be nice to fit lights.

Indeed I'd forgotten the N2 inspite of seeing 1744 a year or 2 ago on the N.Y.M.R.Embarassed!

MalB, said  Indeed I'd forgotten the N2 inspite of seeing 1744 a year or 2 ago on the N.Y.M.R.

Let us not forget the J50s too. The LNER J50 was a Gresley GNR type adopted for standard production. They were GNR J23 class but because some had larger boilers the LNER divided them into J50 and J51.although outwardly they were very similar. Ten of the type to become J50 appeared in 1922, but there were 30 J51s which were built between 1914 and 1919. The J51s had 4 foot 2 inch diameter boilers second hand off the Ivatt 0-8-2Ts and the J50s had new 4 foot 5 inch diameter boilers. In 1929 a start was made to rebuild them all to J50s, and by 1935 class J51 was extinct.  In many dimensions they were similar to the Ivatt saddle tanks which they superceded, but had slightly longer wheelbase 16 foot 3 inch to the J52s 15 foot 6 inch. Handsome little engines it is a pity none were preserved. The last in service were 7 transferred to departmental use 68911 / 3212 (10), 68914 / 3215 (11), 68917 / 3218 (12) , 68928 / 3229 (13), 68961 /  1045 (14), 68971 / 1086(15), 68976 / 2793 (16), the first three being former GNR J23 / LNER J51s. 212, 215 & 218. They all were condemned in 1965.
