Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

Hospital, gosh you are a lucky man! I think I would finish under the patio. (Old reference to a long extinct soap opera SWMBO used to watch to annoy me)

I agree, Graskie. Cleverness comes naturally to me. Counterbalances you!

It ws only on a winter's Sunday that the local 2-BIL service (Waterloo - Ascot -

Reading) arrived over Palmer Park Bridge, ran past Huntley and Palmer's biscuit factory and into Reading South terminus, consisted of a single e.m.u.

In the week it was usually a four car train, consisting of two 2-BIL units in multiple.

So

why not get two of them? I have. They look so good running together.

Also I built two 2-BIL units from Ian Kirk kits. So as not to overload the controller I am replacing the motor bogies with "dummy" motor bogies, so now I can run both six and eight

car trains. This is just how they ran in service from 1938 until final withdrawal.

While you are content to suit yourself, I am trying to recreate what I saw when I was a five year old - more than 70 years ago!

I was trying to resist buying anything for a while, but found a deal on a New York Central Dreyfuss Hudson, obviously not a Hornby product! Very nice model, DCC sound, puffing smoke, brass shell, wonderful, except it died after two loops of the track!

Back to the manufacturer for repair it goes.

Just got the new Star lovely runner but I nearly dropped it. Caught it but managed to break the rear of the Cylinder and slide bars off. I stuck them back together and all works well but have damaged some of the lining.

hmmmm Now if I were to graft

a front buffer beam from my spare County 4-4-0body and het some Grange cylinders, piston rod and pony truck I might end up with a decent Saint!

Just faced my latest inquisition. A lovely little Late BR crest Hornby Western Region 14XX 04-4 push and pull tank loco permanently attached to a maroon autocoach. It's specially DCC sound-fitted, plus directional and carriage lighting. I just love the

guard's bell. He actually exists as well, together with a coach load of passengers who all really enjoy their overnight stays in a station bay platform. They must be happy with that or they'd get up and leave, wouldn't they?

I'm surprised anyone has hung around your layout Graskie. Sure they haven't died?
And thanks for all the fish …
