Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

Two of the Blue Box companies southern PMV - I was actually after a CCT to replace my Dapol one which hates being coupled next to my Fruit Ds. Having seen the Blue CCTs I didn't notice the diffence until they arrived but that won't be a problem as you can only see the wagon sides in the photo of the train make up I am trying to replicate so they might be right after all!

Unless the end doors were required for loading (a motor car for example) the CCT and PMV were used more or less indiscriminately. And the PMV was by far the more numerous.

Class 43 HST Virgin East Coast with TTS Sound

Looks good, sounds good, I just have to wait for carriages.

I was initially put off by the price as TTS sound seems to be increasing steadily, but having received it, heard it and run, it I think it is an excellent addition to my layout.

I've just bought yet another Hornby Castle tender (that means I'll have two spare! However my intention for this one is a little more drastic than just a livery variation. As I have at least one spare set of wheels I intend to 3D print an eight wheeled chassis for it.

PS I also got some more DCC chips so more soldering to do, this time an Ivatt 2-6-2T a blue box team loco I picked up in the arcade in Hungerford lfor £40 last month.

Kneller Hall.

Can you tell me if this is loco or tender driven. I still have quite a few Hall/Saint bits in a box somewhere and am always looking for bits to complete a loco. If loco driven I could look out for a body which would add to the choices I have for a restoration project.

Just unwrapped a Ratio Fixed distant - been after one for ages. Although they still make the others this seems to have been dropped.

Gosh, WTD, I remember having that model way back.  Stupidly, I cannibalised the chassis to fit under the Airfix BoB kit, sticking boxpok overlays on the driving wheels etc.  Still got it somewhere, but have never replaced the Hall, perhaps it's time!

It was Helmingham Hall when it arrived. It's a Railroad model and is very well detailed and the lining is excellent. Decided to change it to something a little bit  more local and Kneller Hall was one of the places my dad loved to visit, went there many times with him, The Royal School of Military Music.

Ah, I thought it was more sophisticated than my version (the old version with the weird valve gear)  mine must have been a 1970/80s version.  I have only been to Kneller Hall once, despite living in Brentford for 11 years back in the 1960s/70s.  I guess it is still the RSMM, must visit again sometime
