Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

Flying Scotsman. Seems to be running out of puff. Did Liverpool - Brisbane in 36hrs, but Brisbane - Gordonvale took 68hrs.

Eight Hornby SR non-corridor carriages arrived today. I have four in green and four in crimson (one of each) and the applied livery is excellent. They are amazing, detail is incredible, and they run very smoothly.

What really DID impress me was Hornby's delivery method. First an email to tell me they were at the warehouse, and that they would be despatched shortly and I would be given a one hour delivery target. Then another email the following day to say the delivery would arrive within a pre-advised hour. And they did, exactly as promised! The packaging was excellent as well. Strongly packed into two boxes with heavy paper padding, easy to open and  yet obviously secure and the contents perfectly protected.

Good to hear that, LC.  I think we should all give Hornby as much support as possible to help restore their fortunes.  Good publicity (and buying stuff !) will help them along. And in the long run, benefit us also. Regards, Jimbo.

Called into Monk Bar models this morning and they had a Bachmann SECR C 0-6-0 for £80. Couldn't resist it! Only went in for a track rubber!

While I was there I also was tempted by an LNER cattle van from Oxford and two Shell/BP anchor mounted tank wagons too.

Email from Hornby today that the SR brakevan will be arriving soon.

Exciting times!

The fifth LNER CCT R6682D, LMS Horse Boxes  R6727, R6727A, R6678A and a spare copy of RailMaster. All from the Hattons sale.

@Gordonvale if you see this I think I can beat your 68 hrs Brisbane to Gordonvale. Cairns to Mareeba 79.5 hrs.

Limited edition R3503 BR (NRM) 'Flying Scotsman' & Support Coach.

Arrived yesterday afternoon from Locomotion. I haven't had a chance to fully take it out of the box or run it yet, but in the box it looks very nice in it's gloss paint

After long last, I've finaly got my hands on three GWR Collett chocolate and cream corridor coaches - LH brake, LH composite and RH composite - and just in time as well, I bought the last stock of each in the shop! I must say they look absoloutley beautiful. Not had a chance to run them yet but I plan to have them pulled by Caerphilly Castle - I can't wait!Laughing

The detail is superb and fully worth £39.99 each. Thanks once again Hornby for such magnificently detailed models!

Well, I've had a wee look at the Hornby sale at the "Hobby Shop Previously Known In Liverpool".  Over the past couple of months I've persuaded myself to acquire the following items ...

R3060 Class A1 4-6-2 60163 "Tornado" in British Railways Apple Green (Railroad Range)

R3171 Class P2 2-8-2 2001 'Cock O' The North' in LNER Green (Railroad range)

R3341A Class 2-HAL 2623 2 car EMU in BR blue

N8765 Car Service & Repair Garage - Lyddle End "Village & Town" range

R1177 Gloucester City Pullman Train Set with Class 8 4-6-2 71000 "Duke of Gloucester " in BR lined green with 3 Pullman coaches (2 x Parlour, 1 x Brake)

R3003 Class B17 4-6-0 61669 "Barnsley" in BR Green with late crest

Very happy with everything given the prices, although the shipping cost on the train set made the eyes water a little bit!  Also grabbed a couple of Farish locos recently, a Merchant Navy (New Zealand Line) and a Class 60.  All in all, probably need to put the card away for a spell but I'm not sure I'm done yet in that sale.
