Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

Hornby Magazine (August 2016) have done a review of the Adams, and they say that it was worth the wait, despite being some £20 more expensive - they felt the Hornby version was "more refined with an air of delicacy". However they do say both models are fantastic - they reveiwed the Oxford version a month or two ago and said it was a first class model. Remember Hornby Magazine is not a Hornby publication so they are not biased. They end up by saying the choice is yours and that both models are superb.

Thanks for the input, BB. Hopefully I will see them side by side. (I doubt if I am "refined" enough for the Hornby however Undecided )

A set of King George V plates from Fox. I can now rename/number my spare King George II. The nice thing is the lower part of the backing board is green and they will supply lining transfers. However, I will need to do a littl work to get them on the loco and the lining will be very fiddly - the whole job would be so much easier if someone made waterslide plates to stick over the originals though.

I've also just put a garter coat of arms on the tender (well a spare) so I'm in two minds about fitting a bell - If I do not, does anyone know where I can get a Westinghouse pump these days and possibly 1:76th scale Britania.

Modelling a combined 00 and 009 gauge Layout (GWR/GVT) mostly

Just the one?   I'd used a 5mm &10mm. And saved the money!

A tool for unscrewing the back of wrist watches and a bottle of chainsaw oil.

Only needed the one. Got boxes and boxes full of drills, but didn't have a 15mm one that would fit in my drill.

Only £2.46 inc. P&P.

I'll be using the chainsaw to take my flat apart in an effort to find out where my good set of vernier calipers went.
