What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Hornby R3308 Silver King (silver jubilee) and coaches with DCC and sound. Very impressed.

Not my era, Roy, but that really looks the part, doesn't it? I could be tempted, but really, really want the LMS Coronation rake to go with my 'Duchess of Hamilton'

101's used to run on the North Tyne Loop Newcastle to Newcastle via Whitleybay used to be fun when they were full and we all piled into the guards van or if you got in the front into the former 1st Class end in the plush seats,slide the door closed and we thought we were in heaven.

Just purchased the Bachmann Ltd Edition Midland Blue Pullman plus just ordered the NRM Ltd Edition Flying Scotsman plus support coach looks a super pack

Went mad and bought 7 MK1 BR(WR) coaches and a 2-8-2 tank loco. The coaches for a Red Dragon train and the 2-8-2 for a nice heavy tank coal train.

Hoping not to sound disloyal to Hornby, would you tell us why you preferred the Hornby model to the Oxford one ? Not a question of price, I'm sure, so your reasons would be interesting. I am thinking of buying one myself.

Hi Jimbopuff - No real reason at all. They have both had very good reviews. I was on the Hornby site late last night and just bought it. I think the Oxford one is slightly cheaper even with the Hornby Club discount, but cost wasn't a factor in the decision to buy.

Hornby Magazine (August 2016) have done a review of the Adams, and they say that it was worth the wait, despite being some £20 more expensive - they felt the Hornby version was "more refined with an air of delicacy". However they do say both models are fantastic - they reveiwed the Oxford version a month or two ago and said it was a first class model. Remember Hornby Magazine is not a Hornby publication so they are not biased. They end up by saying the choice is yours and that both models are superb.

Hornby R3215 Class 373 Eurostar withDCC (didn't bother with sound - not that good in my opinion) again very impressed.
