Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

Hornby CCT in BR(E) livery, plus a copy of Railmaster and some fishplates - somehow ordered 2 packs instead of one, not worth sending back even though they are jolly expensive (£4 a pack). All from Hattons.  I recollect that there has been a trading partnership between Hornby (in its various iterations)  and this company since the Mecanno days, a long, strong tradition.

Mine is the "Duchess of Sutherland" Coronation Class loco and a set of very expensive matching coaches. It looks quite magestic.

I have removed the wheels from under the cab as it derailed on points. This sorted it out and to be honest, you cant really notice.

Hornby points?? well known for derailments.

Have just supported my local dealer, buying a Class 24 Bo Bo Diesel , DCC fitted and Directional lights.

After a thorough running-in I  attached the white handrails.  Unfortunately I could not attach the headcode discs as they would cover the directional lights. So I presume that in the real world locos diesels did not run with headcode discs at night ?

Gave my new Hornby Class 71 a test run yesterday, a lovely smooth and powerful beastie.

See above. Diesel headcode discs should include a hole to enable the light to shine through, like this class 40 at Carlisle.

Thank you PP, it seems like a lifetime ago since I took it. At that time there were still 81s, 85s, 86s and 87s cruising over Shap, and Beattock and the 40s were on charge of the Leeds service via Settle. However one bounced about in a 101 unit to Newcastle. Oh happy days!

I remember 101s on the Newcastle-Carlisle line. At that time they sometimes had a buffet!! I don't remember them bouncing around but A) it was a lomg time ago (early 60s) and B) the units were a lot newer!!
