Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

Hi Fay

Are you going to repaint it LMS Maroon or Black, as per 10000 and 10001?   Wink

That would be very silly has 10000&10001 were Diesels.  Wouldn't it now.

If it’s not Crimson, it isn’t a proper engine

Hi Choralc

Nice book, another book I would suggest to you is A historical Survey of Great Western Engine Sheds 1947 by E Lyons it covers all the loco sheds on the Great Western , From Old Oak with its 232 locos to the Much Wenlock with its two locos.

I just nabbed a T9 no. 314 in Sunshine livery off ebay for £65 mint in box, it must have sneaked under the radar because I rarely see them go for less than £80, I knew if I waited patiently I'd eventually be able to grab a bargain! It's gonna look good weathered up on an ambulance / troop train!

An X04, two 0-6-0 hornby triang chassis various screws and a few other bits to "restore" or obtain the models I originally wanted when I first started the hobby in the 1970s.

Modelling a combined 00 and 009 gauge Layout (GWR/GVT) mostly

An ESU decoder test rig, a Select Walkabout, several bits to hopefully improve my Class 90 and 56 running like assorted pickups and solid wheels, so more rollers for my rolling road and a couple of sound decoders.

At the moment I can only run one loco, they way I have mine addressed, but i can use it for basic decoder testing with that fancy ESU rig, so i'm just learning how to use it

I just picked up a couple of these from my local model shop.

Being very light they kept derailing when crossing points, so after a quick rummage through the "it'll come in handy one day box" and a light going over with the air brush, we have this.
