Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

My new LBSCR E4 arrived from Liverpool this afternoon. It is now being 'run-in' . What a lovely model. Pre-Grouping liveries are really splendid. Shame more pre-grouping stuff (including rolling stock), is not available RTR. (Hint, Hint Hornby)

Mint in mint box weathered Q1 for £60 at Toy fair. Lovely detailed model and runs so nicely, esp at creeping speed.

Treated myself to 12 conflats from Bachmann and 5 Dapol BR (ex LMS) kits to go with my BR (ex LMS)  12 wheel maroon dining car.

Are they the non corridor coaches Vespa?

No these are the corridor coaches in BR maroon. I have a set in carmine and cream and thought they looked fine. I had fun painting the interiors and detailing those with HMRS transfers.I also fitted the bogies with 14mm metal wheels. This lot are getting the same treatment plus "The Lakes Express" coach boards.  I also have the non corridor stock made from kits and detailed. At £10 per coach I think that they are value for money and look very good.

I have a couple of the non corridor coaches, like you say they a terrific value.

I recently bought a 00 Class 66 in EWS Euro Cargo livery from Kernow Model Centre in Camborne. Very impressed with the detail and how smooth it runs

What were those little bricks you used to make realistic looking buildings from. The used to have pole things in too, but not Bayko.

Some of you may have seen these before -

I finished these a couple of weeks ago.

One is a repainted Wrenn one the other is a Kitmaster body on a Wrenn chassis.

Which is which?

Four (different) Hornby LNER coaches in teak varnish transitional livery, i.e. without LNER markings but BR class numbers and warnings. LNER transfers can easily be obtained from one of thee specialist manufacturers and applied to these coaches after having very carefully removed the BR markings with T-Cut or something else that doesn't mist up the plastic. Since the full range of LNER versions hasn't been available from Hornby for some time, I was delighted to purchase these versions that were on special offer at Locomotion Models, Shildon museum, for only £25 each (the super detailed versions, not the obsolete RailRoad versions). A real steal. I also seized the opportunity to purchase the Atlantic in LNER version as a stable mate for my GNR version. These are exquisite models that work efficiently. Next move will be to pay a deposit on one of the long-awaited Stirling singles. It's always the same isn't it? I was working on the completion of a Kitmaster body fitted to a Blue Box Emily chassis (with different wheels) when the announcement came. I will finish it nevertheless with different numbering. All very well but when, when is someone going to produce an Atlantic, Pacific or anything else in an out of the box NER livery. Come on Hornby!.

Have the same thoughts myself - Just trying to remember where SWMBO has put her Hornby LBSCR brake van!

Have just taken delivery of a six pin chip for a blue box loco. Its a shame the're using them instead of the 8 pin as I found the standard Hornby chip works well in their locos.

In addition just bought some more playworn Grafar OO coaches. Since finding out how they come apart I've been stripping them down and reassembling the best bits.

I was delighted to receive the Class 47 TTS at long last from a pre order with Hornby , then two days later got a notification from a Liverpool shop that another one was on the way. I did mot realise that I had pre ordered two but I am not complaining. I can now double head the two both class 47's with sounds
