Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

What's your latest aquisition?

Here's my latest purchase, a Tri-ang-Hornby R.754 M7 in BR Black livery.

The box was tatty, crew were missing and the BR totem transfers on the tank sides were part missing as per normal.

The model is slowly being restored, a fresh box mint was found on ebay with incorrect labels (the one on the right) and I have crew and original totem transfers a plenty in stock, I will post stages of the restoration at intervals for all my friends on here to see as they take place.

Here's the loco pre-restoration but with nice new original 40+ BR Totem transfers put on the side tanks, a packet of the original transfers is posed by the loco for reference.

Hope all at Hornby like what I am doing to their old locos.

Enjoy!

Latest Purchase. A rake of 1970's margate made Blood and Custard Mk1's, this rake is now totally complete, for my retro layout. I have 10 mint ones and two spares donors now. 10th example already in the works for cleaning.

Thanks, SoT, but this one was in 'Well played with' condition, with a splodge of orange paint underneath, and the paint - if there was any - of the numbers worn off, just leaving the embossing. The roof falls off every five minutes! It still has the clear plastic U-shaped sheet window glazing, with a smear of white for the toilets!

Sorry, 2toederic. I did initially put up information for you but immediately realised I had not included the picture of said coach from Tri-ang's number 2 catalogue 1956. I quickly did an edit, including the picture, but it was then held for modification. It should appear sometime.

Thanks, Grassy, I'm not quite as mad as I thought I was, then!  :-)

Joeuf SNCF 231 C 60 Despite probably being around 45 years old only minor damage to footstep and a very smooth runner even at slow speads.

Modelling a combined 00 and 009 gauge Layout (GWR/GVT) mostly

The second loco I bought coralc - still runs real sweet. I love your bat train tag.

Just received a small parts bag for the black 5 Shame I ordered 3. Hornby will be getting a email in the next few minutes.  Also ordered a Judith edge kit for a princess royal.  This one is going to be 46205 to go with the old pro scale 46208.

If it’s not Crimson, it isn’t a proper engine

Yes, I see my picture has now appeared, 2e0. Makes life difficult with pictures being held for molestation, doesn't it?

In fact I have now discovered that your R.22 coach appeared in, not only the Triang Railways 1st edition catalogue of 1955 as well, but on their 1954 single sheet catalogues. I can't identify the indistinct running number there but they must almost certainly have had the same one. So it was actually one of the first few items Tri-ang ever produced for their new electric 00 model railways system.

They did indeed appear in the 1954 single sheet catalouges but from what I remember they didn't hit the shops straight away and came in towards the end of 1954/early 1955. Will have to delve into the archives in the warehouse for the date we got them in the old shop.
