A4 'Bittern' Arrives at its new home in Margate
The classic, and much-loved, A4 Class locomotive 'Bittern' has arrived at the Locomotive Storage Facility in Margate and has been successfully installed. Having left Locomotive Storage's main depot in Crewe on Thursday, the loco made its journey by road, arriving in Thanet yesterday.
Having converted Hornby's warehouse, 'Bittern' will be joining the Mersey Rail Class 503 Multiple unit which arrived a couple of days prior.

A stone's throw from the popular Hornby Visitor Centre, the Margate facility will be developed into one of the most significant railway sites in the country. Offering Locomotive Storage Ltd a venue for storing their assets, the warehouse is likely to see more locomotives and carriages join 'Bittern' in Margate.
Having been slowly worked into place, A4 'Bittern', and two tenders, have been safely installed.

Locomotive Storage, and their director Frank Martin, invited a number of people from Hornby, past and present, who couldn't wait to see 'Bittern' installed in a space they are very familiar with. Offering a fantastic viewing platform, and unparalleled access, the whole team thoroughly enjoyed the morning. On behalf of everyone who attended, and the entire company, we would like to extend a huge thank you to Locomotive Storage.
