Scalextric Digital Demolition Derby Endurance Race

The Scalextric Digital Demolition Derby Endurance Race will take place on Saturday 16th November 2013 at ARMADACON. This inaugural eight hour Demolition Derby event, staged by Otaku Scalextric Club, promises to be the best fun possible mixing our new QUICKBUILD cars with the Scalextric Digital system.

There will be three Otaku Club Teams with a Scalextric Digital vehicle of their choice racing on the track. These will be the 'Hunter' Teams. The remaining three Digital ‘slots’ will be Demolition Derby vehicles, fitted with a Scalextric Digital chip, and will be open to use by those making a donation, known as the 'Runner' Cars.

Anyone may enter at any time by making a donation to the convention charity buckets. The ‘Hunter teams, of course, will be racing for the full eight hours of the endurance race to clock up as many laps as possible. So, the three teams with ‘Hunter’ cars have their endurance race. Here’s the fun bit!

The ‘Runner’ cars will enter the track, and receive a 5 lap grace period. After that, the ‘Hunters’ can start to knock the ‘Runner’ cars to bits. When the cars are down to nothing but the base chassis, the driver for that vehicle is eliminated. The ‘Runner’ cars themselves won't be permitted to ram the ‘Hunter’ cars – pointless, really, as the ‘Runner’ car will most likely lose body parts! A new driver for a ‘Runner’ car can then step up to the plate once the vehicle is rebuilt, and can challenge the ‘Hunter’ teams again.

Presentations will be made to announce which Hunter Team achieved the most laps, and to the individual ‘Runner’ driver with the most laps. Please Note: The separate Scalextric World Championship heats will run on Friday 15th 2013 and Sunday 17th 2013 along with other events at ARMADACON.
